ABOUT GEN CON
Gen Con is widely recognized as the largest and longest-running tabletop gaming convention in North America, held annually in Indianapolis, Indiana. Established in 1968 by Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, Gen Con started as a small gathering of gamers and has since grown into a massive event that draws enthusiasts from around the world.
The convention spans multiple days, typically held in August, and features a diverse array of tabletop games, including board games, card games, role-playing games (RPGs), miniature wargames, and more. Attendees have the opportunity to participate in gaming tournaments, demo new games, attend panels and workshops, and meet game designers and industry professionals.
Gen Con is not only a gathering for gamers but also a marketplace where publishers and vendors showcase and sell their latest products. It serves as a hub for the gaming community to connect, share experiences, and celebrate their shared passion for tabletop gaming.
Beyond gaming, Gen Con hosts various entertainment events, including costume contests, social gatherings, and themed parties, adding to the festive atmosphere of camaraderie and excitement that defines the convention each year. Gen Con continues to grow in popularity and importance within the gaming industry, remaining a highlight on the calendar for gamers of all interests and backgrounds.
